TL;DR
Adult open gym at Interstellar Gymnastics in Santa Clara runs Tuesday and Friday 9-10 PM and Thursday 2-3 PM and 8-9 PM. Sessions start with a coached 30-minute warmup, then free training on all gymnastics events, trampoline, tumble track, and the Dream Machine, with hands-on coaches spotting. Drop-ins are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Most people hear “open gym” and picture a free-for-all: doors open, music on, good luck. Ours does not work that way, and the difference is the whole reason adults keep coming back. Here is exactly what a session looks like, who shows up, and what to expect your first night.

Adult open gym, step by step
Who actually shows up
A Tuesday night session is a wide mix of athletes. People working flips. Acro and tricking folks. Trampoline people chasing air time. And a solid group who come mainly for the flexibility work, the stretch, and the core training, because where else does an adult get a coached 30-minute warmup at 9 PM?
Most of the people in the room are regulars. That matters if you are nervous about walking in: the crowd is consistent, welcoming, and used to seeing new faces show up stiff and leave hooked.

The first 30 minutes are structured
Every session starts the same way: a group run to warm up, a full group stretch, core work, and line drills. About 30 minutes, all together, before anyone touches a skill.
That structure is deliberate. Adults get hurt in gyms when they walk in cold and throw the trick they remember from high school. The warmup gets your body ready, and for a lot of members it is half the value: guided flexibility and core training you would otherwise never make yourself do.
Then: free time, with real coaching
After the warmup the gym is yours, and this is where our open gym is different from most. Coaches are on the floor and very hands-on. Want a spot on a back handspring? Ask. Working toward a backflip and stuck on the fear? That is the most common goal in the room, and the coaches will progress you and spot you through it.
Back handsprings and backflips are what most adults come in chasing. Both are very learnable with spotting, progressions, and consistency. For a weekly teaching rhythm, see our adult gymnastics classes.
What you get to use: everything
Full access. All six men's events and all four women's events, plus the trampoline and the tumble track.
And then there is the Dream Machine. It is a pulley system on rings that removes about half your body weight, so your body can do things it cannot do yet at full weight. Iron crosses. Muscle ups. Skills most humans simply cannot perform become trainable. We call it the Dream Machine because it makes your dreams come true, and we are only half joking. Almost no gym in the area has one, and adults line up for it.

Why the sessions run late
Tuesday and Friday sessions run 9-10 PM, with Thursday offering 2-3 PM and 8-9 PM. The honest reason: classes run long, and open gym gets the floor once the evening wraps. The happy side effect is a session that fits after work, after the kids are down, when the gym is quiet and the equipment is all yours.

Your first session, honestly
Wear fitted athletic clothing, bring water, sign the waiver, and pace yourself however you want. Go easy or go hard. Either way, plan to be sore the next morning. That is not a warning, it is the receipt that your body did something new.
And if you have been thinking about coming for months but feel too old, too stiff, or too embarrassed: if we had a dollar for every adult who said that before their first session, we could buy a second Dream Machine. They all say the same thing, they all come anyway, and they all love it. Your success is on the other side of your fear.
Sessions run at 2790 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, inside the Evo Gym and minutes from San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino. Just drop in, or check the live schedule in our enrollment portal. If you want structured coaching on a weekly rhythm instead, that is what our adult classes are for.
